The British University in Dubai (BUiD) a vibrant, diverse and not-for-profit university was established by a Royal Decree in May 2003. It is the Middle East region's first, research based, postgraduate University. The energetic academic research environment is organised into three Faculties: Engineering and Information Technology, Business and Education. The Structural Engineering programme accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research offers cutting edge education and research in key disciplines. This unique opportunity for higher education study and research contributes significantly to the technological innovation and growth of the Arab world and beyond.

BUiD now has over 500 postgraduate students on 13 masters and three doctoral programmes, all of which are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. BUiD’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology offers a doctoral programme in Architecture and Sustainable Built Environment and a masters programme in Sustainable Design of the Built Environment both delivered in association with Cardiff University. Systems Engineering is taught in association with University of Manchester, Intelligent Buildings Design and Automation delivered in association with both University of Manchester and Cardiff University, Informatics programme (Knowledge and Data Management) programme offered with University of Edinburgh and Information Technology Management programme delivered in association with both University of Edinburgh and University of Manchester.

As part of its on-going success and growth, the Faculty now wishes to strengthen the team with an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic academic who is committed to providing students with an enriching learning experience. The selected candidate must have a strong international academic record in aspects of structural engineering and will also demonstrate the ability to provide management and direction within a tertiary environment.

Applicants must have a PhD with a proven track record of teaching Structural Design and Durability and Rehabilitation of Structures at postgraduate and preferably at doctorate level. He/she must also have a good record of research publication with the ability to develop internal and external research collaborations. Experience of securing funding from diverse research sponsoring bodies is desirable.
